Yes. It is important to me that quality mental health care be accessible to as many as possible who need the support. Therefore, I have chosen to be credentialed with select insurance companies. I am in-network for:Medicaid (Colorado Access)Kaiser (Including Kaiser Medicare)UnitedAetnaFor these insurance carriers, I can check your eligibility, bill your insurance directly, and collect your co-payment (if any) via credit card, cash or check. Your out-of-pocket cost to use your insurance benefits will vary with your plan. There generally is no out-of-pocket expense for those covered by Medicaid. If you are using your private insurance (anything other than Medicaid or Medicare), please be prepared to pursue any billing issues that may arise directly with your insurance company. Ultimately, you are financially responsible for claims that your insurance company denies. Ugh. Insurance. If you want to use your out of network benefits, I can provide you with a superbill that contains the information necessary for your insurance company to either pay toward our sessions or count the costs for our sessions toward your deductible for the year.
Yes, absolutely! Meeting in-person is my preferred way to work together, and it supports our work in many ways. First, working in-person ensures that you have a comfortable and safe space that is 100% dedicated to our work together-no dishes or laundry to distract us, no interruptions, no concerns that family members or roommates can hear your session. Second, I like to invite clients to use props during the session. For example, rope or yarn may be used to explore boundaries; miniatures may help to represent Parts in a more tangible and memorable way; or essential oils may aid in mindfulness exercises. Use of props is possible, but can be more limited online. Third, I prefer to work in-person because it opens a whole world of information that is not as easily accessible online: subtle body language, the sense of another person’s energy, the feeling of interpersonal connection. Most of my clients consider their therapy session a welcome break from screens!
Yes. Studies have shown, and I know from experience, that virtual therapy can be quite effective. If you must choose between virtual therapy or no therapy, there is no doubt that virtual therapy wins out! Situations where online therapy might be good option might include: You have mobility challenges; You have unreliable transportation and public transportation doesn’t meet your needs;Either of us is feeling sick and wants to prevent infecting others;Weather is too risky for travel. It is better to continue our work together than risk losing momentum due to frequent pauses due to barriers associated with meeting in person.
